Design Manager

Our manufacturing client based in Eastleigh are looking for a Design Manager to join their busy team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with any supervisory / team lead or management experience looking for their next step.


Job Description

The primary role of the Design Manager will be toleadthe design and programming teams, ensuring the successful delivery of design projects in line with company standards and customer expectations with the support of the Head of Design.It will involveimproving design performance and optimising team capabilities, while also supporting product development and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities.

  • Leadingthe day-to-day operations of the design engineers, design specialists, and programming operatives
  • Working with KPI's, setting, targeting and working with the team to achieve these.
  • Ensure quality compliance with customer specifications and standards.
  • Partake in design reviews to identify any potential issues and to rectify,ensuring all actions are completed by the task timescales.
  • Succession planning, team management and development of the teams.
  • Identifying training and development where needed within the team
  • Hold team meetings.
  • Support and collaborate with the leadership team.
  • When required participate in site visits for more complex projectsto ensure design specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Provide technical support across departments, troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Adhere tohealth and safety standards.


Ideal Skills &Experience

  • Essential - Previous leadership skills (Team Leader / Supervisor / Manager)
  • Essential - Microsoft 365 Applications (Word, Excel, SharePoint & Outlook)
  • Desirable- Degree, preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering or extensive work experience within the relevant area
  • Desirable -2D CAD, AutoCAD or equivalent, 3D CAD experience.

Salary/Hours/Benefits
