We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Facilities Assistant to support the maintenance, security, and operational efficiency of our site. This role ensures that the buildings, grounds, and facilities are well-maintained, safe, and fully functional for staff, students, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail. Ideally, candidates will have experience in an educational setting.

Description

The key responsibilities for the Facilities Manager role are:

  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, materials, and equipment.

  • Conduct regular site inspections and report defects or hazards promptly.

  • Support compliance tasks, including fire alarm testing, emergency light checks, and ladder inspections.

  • Act as a keyholder, responsible for opening and closing the premises and responding to emergency call-outs.

  • Maintain security measures and ensure a safe environment for staff, students, and visitors.

  • Work closely with the Estates & Facilities Manager to support site maintenance and improvements.

  • Assist with event setup and facility usage outside normal operating hours.

  • Ensure the grounds and facilities are kept clean, organised, and functional.

Profile

The successful candidate for the Facilities Manager is someone with the following:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English.

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage tasks independently.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • A practical, hands-on approach with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle responsibilities efficiently.

  • Experience in facilities maintenance, security, or a similar role is advantageous.

  • A positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to high standards.

  • Ideally, experience working in an educational environment.
