VTCT is the UKs market-leading specialist vocational and technical Awarding Organisation (AO) and End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) for the personal services and well-being sector, with a number of qualifications in sports therapy, fitness, and learning and development.


As an HR Partner, you play a pivotal role in driving the people agenda, aligning HR strategies with business objectives, and delivering a proactive HR service, enabling VTCT to achieve its strategic objectives.


You will partner with Head of Departments and their Managers, building strong and trusted relationships, providing expert guidance, support and challenge, to support them to create high performing and engaged teams.


You will partner the business in all aspects of the employee lifecycle, and have the ability to navigate complex HR challenges, while actively championing employee engagement through role modelling our values of partnership, ease, expertise, collaboration and energy.

Principal Responsibilities include (Full job description is available upon request):

  • Strategic HR Partnership:Proactively develop and sustain trusted relationships with Heads of Departments and their teams to inform how you influence them. Tailoring your approach and style when providing support/advice on workforce planning, talent management, organisational design and development, employee engagement, and performance management/development.
  • Employee Relations:Provide expert guidance on employee relations issues, ensuring the application of our policies, best practices and compliance with UK employment law. Have a disciplined and open mined approach to understanding and supporting complex cases such as disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and performance improvement processes.
  • Business Acumen:Have a deep understanding of VTCTs strategy, priorities, and issues and how these connect to the HR strategy and priorities. Manage relationships with suppliers and partner organisation to drive value for our employees.
  • Employee Engagement:Drive initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement, workplace wellbeing, and retention. Act as a key point of contact for staff, providing support on wellbeing and mental health.
  • Internal communications:Take a lead role in designing approaches to communications which provide an employee voice including delivering a consistent approach to all internal communications. Work in collaboration with the Marketing department on all aspects of employee communications, including events etc.

  • CIPD level 7 Qualification
  • 1-2 + years experience working as an HR Business Partner
  • A strong understanding of current and future Employment legislation, and how to practically/ pragmatically apply it.
  • Understand a range of people practices including ED&I and how to design them in an integrated way.
  • Coach and influence managers and leaders to consider implications of their decisions on their teams and stakeholders.
  • Tailor your influencing style and select appropriate communication channels to engage your audience to gain buy-in.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working withing the awarding and/or education sector.
  • How to develop people practices for a hybrid workforce that enhances performance & engagement.
  • Demonstrate compassion, humanity and fairness in your approach.
  • Facilitate connections and joint-working across teams, disciplines and functions.
