Signalling Construction Manager
Role Overview
My client who are a highly regarded signalling contractorare seeking a highly skilled and experienced Signalling Construction Manager to oversee the delivery of signalling construction activities across theirrail projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required safety and quality standards. The candidate must hold a valid IRSE License and possess a deep understanding of signalling systems, construction processes, and railway safety standards.
Key Responsibilities

Project Management
- Lead and manage the planning, execution, and completion of signalling construction activities.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Monitor project progress and address any risks or issues that may impact timelines or budgets.

Compliance and Standards
- Ensure all works comply with relevant railway industry standards, including Network Rail standards.
- Maintain adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Technical Oversight
- Provide technical guidance on signalling installations, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Review and approve signalling designs, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Conduct inspections to ensure high-quality construction and compliance with specifications.

Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor a team of engineers, supervisors, and operatives.
- Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the main point of contact for signalling construction matters.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Prepare and deliver progress reports and presentations to stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- IRSE License: Must hold a valid and current IRSE license relevant to signalling construction.
- Proven experience in managing signalling construction activities in a railway environment.
- Strong understanding of signalling principles, systems, and technologies.
- Knowledge of railway safety standards and procedures (e.g., CSM-RA, CDM Regulations, Network Rail standards).
- Experience in leading teams and managing subcontractors.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Professional qualification in Engineering (e.g., HNC/HND, BEng in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering).
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, PMP).
- Familiarity with signalling design and testing processes.
- Experience working in both mainline and metro signalling systems.
