About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dedicated teamthat caters to pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding full-time role where you will provide essential support to students in both academic and social settings. You will work closely with teachers and other staff members to create a positive, nurturing environment where students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning plans and activities.
  • Foster a supportive, safe, and positive environment for students.
  • Support the teacher in managing classroom behaviour and facilitating learning.
  • Help with the personal care and development of students where required.
  • Act as a role model to promote positive behaviour and social interaction.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children or young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly SEMH.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students with complex needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be 21 or over, as the role involves supporting pupils aged 11-18.
  • A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience in de-escalation strategies or behaviour management techniques.
  • First Aid training or willingness to undertake training.
