SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School – Eastleigh

The Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). Working closely with teachers and the SEN team, you will:

Support students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to enhance their educational experience.
Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of each student.
Encourage positive behaviour management and support students in regulating their emotions.
Assist in classroom activities, practical tasks, and structured learning to ensure engagement and progress.
Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels supported.

Previous experience in a school setting, especially supporting students with SEN.
Transferable skills from the care sector, such as working in residential care, mental health services, or community support roles.
A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to working with young people.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
