Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Manchester

Thorn Baker has teamed up with a leading specialist property developer. For over 40 years, they have undertaken property conversions and specialist new build developments that are as complex and challenging as they are breath-taking. They are looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to help them continue breathing new life into Britain's historic buildings.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum qualification HND in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management.
  • At least 3 years' relevant experience within the last 8 years, must include High Rise project experience.
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Full UK driving licencerequired as this role is both site-and office-based.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Fully understand the terms and implications of project contracts or framework agreements and ensure that project costs reflect these.
  • Prepare project costs using agreed Schedules of Rates, built up net costs, sub-contractors quotes and agreed mark-up for general overhead, indirect overhead, direct overhead, risk and profit.
  • Ensure that sub-contract and purchase orders are issued accurately, on time and to reflect that nature of the project contract.
  • Maintain a full understanding of the developing project and amend costs to reflect this, ensure that variation information is issued and approved to timescales that facilitate successful project delivery.
  • Pro-actively monitor and negotiate sub-contract variations to agreement.
  • Identify and highlight risk and work with the project team to eliminate / reduce this.
  • Prepare accurate project Cost Value Reconciliations and report these at staged valuations and final account.
  • Attend site meetings as required.
