Key information on the SEN Teaching Assistant role:

  • Monday-Friday
  • 30am-3.30pm
  • Term-time only (38 weeks)
  • 5 hours per week
  • £19500 per annum

The School:

  • Small, independent SEN School
  • Years 7-13
  • SEMH needs
  • Autism, ADHD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, PTSD, Pathological Demand Avoidance

Staff at the setting are down to earth, empathetic, and are good at building relationships with the children.

What you will do as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Promote independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion
  • Give support individually, or in groups, so children can access curriculum
  • Use highly effective behaviour management techniques
  • Report to class teacher and SENCo

Qualities you will need as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Empathy
  • Clear communication skills
  • Able to build relationships quickly
  • Promote safety and wellbeing of pupils
  • Relevant experience e.g. working with young people with SEMH needs/people with mental health needs/young offenders
