JOB ROLE FOR ACCOUNTS MANAGER

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role you will be reporting to the Practice Manager in all aspects of accounting, ensuring timely & accurate submissions of information and helping to uphold a high standard of internal control and compliance.

In this role, you will combine strong technical accounting expertise with leadership skills. You'll manage a team and serve as the primary coordinator for all accounting matters. The position also involves substantial client interaction, including onboarding new clients, fostering relationships, and acting as the principal point of contact.

The ideal candidate will possess robust technical accounting skills and the ability to lead a team effectively. As the central figure for all accounting matters, you will also play a crucial role in client relations. This includes bringing new clients on board, cultivating partnerships, and serving as the main point of contact for all client interactions

What you'll need to succeed

  • Graduate in a finance / accounting focused degree with 2.1 or 1st and/or solid A Levels in numerate subjects e.g. Maths, Economics, Accounting
  • Actively studying towards professional qualification (ACCA / ACA / CIMA)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organisational and management skills
  • Strong reconciliation skills and an eye for detail

  • Experience of Microsoft office; Cloud software such as Dropbox, Xero, Quick Books. Our practice is "paperless" and embrace cloud technology.

To be considered for the role you will:

  • have experience working in a client facing environment
  • have experience of preparing and reviewing payroll and quarterly VAT returns
  • have experience of preparing statutory and management accounts
  • have experience of preparing corporate and personal tax returns
  • be able to effectively communicate with clients, staff and other stakeholders

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis
  • Expertise in budgeting and forecasting
  • Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance
  • Mastery of accounting software (Xero, Quick Books)
  • Experience of Microsoft office; Cloud software such as Dropbox, Xero, the practice are "paperless" and embrace cloud technology.
  • Financial data interpretation

Client Relations and Management:

  • Client communication and relationship building

Professional Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Professional certifications (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

Experience:

  • Typically 5+ years in accounting roles with progressive responsibilities
  • Track record of successful team management
  • Experience in managing key client accounts

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Reporting to the Practice Manager and leading a team of 6 staff, your role will be responsible for:

Ensuring all aspects of Accounts Scope of work (payroll, VAT, annual accounts) is completed on a timely basis

Resources and Workforce management

Training and Mentoring plans are in place and effective for each staff member

Assist with credit control process

Act as a focal point of contact for clients whilst building excellent client relationships, ensuring any issues are resolved at the earliest opportunity

Identify continuous improvement activities and implement where appropriate
