SEN Teaching Assistant - Post-16 Special School - Edgware, London

Do you have experience working in a post-16 educational setting, helping students with learning difficulties achieve their full potential?

LTF Recruitment is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a post-16 special school in Edgware, London.

This rewarding role involves working closely with young adults aged 16+ who have SEN, providing 1:1 and small group support to help them develop both academically and socially. You will work with the teaching staff and SENCo to deliver tailored interventions and ensure each student receives the personalised support they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to post-16 students with SEN
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning and care plans to meet each student's unique needs
  • Help students develop essential life skills and academic abilities to support their transition into adulthood
  • Support students with ASD, learning difficulties, and other complex needs, ensuring they are fully engaged in their learning
  • Collaborate with teachers and SENCo to ensure students' progress is monitored and support plans are adjusted as necessary
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment where students feel supported and encouraged

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience supporting students with SEN, particularly in a post-16 or special school setting
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with complex needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
  • A proactive approach to working with young adults, ensuring their individual needs are met

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working with students with ASD, ADHD, or other learning difficulties
  • Knowledge of life skills development and SEN strategies

Additional Information:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Paid £95 - £105 per day, term time only
  • Based in Edgware, London - excellent transport links
  • Immediate start with potential for a long-term role
