We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialised school in Brent. This role is ideal for a male staff member who will lead a Key Stage 5 class of 8 students, all diagnosed with autism. Some students have positive behaviour plans and use AAC or verbal communication. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage students in activities within the community and work alongside 5 highly experienced support staff.
Day-to-day of the role:- Lead and manage a Key Stage 5 class of 8 students with autism, ensuring all individual needs are met.
- Implement and adapt the PFA (Preparing for Adulthood) curriculum to suit the needs of the students.
- Utilise AAC and other communication methods to engage and interact with students.
- Collaborate with support staff to create a supportive and effective learning environment.
- Plan and facilitate community-based activities that enhance learning and social skills.
- Monitor and report on the progress of students, adapting strategies as needed to optimise learning.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Significant experience in special educational needs (SEN), particularly with autism.
- Strong understanding of the PFA curriculum and ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
- Experience in managing positive behaviour plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, students, and the community.
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
