Mac Recruit Group are delighted to be partnered with our clients in Edinburgh as they are looking to expand their Audit team due to significant growth in the last year. This role comes with a clear outline to progression as well as an outstanding portfolio of clients that you will have control over with support from the wider team and the Audit Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Communication:Handle client correspondence and manage scheduling and expectations for project delivery.
  • Work Review & Feedback:Review, supervise, and provide feedback on the work of junior and senior staff to ensure quality and completeness.
  • Portfolio Management:Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring efficient planning, budgeting, and review of assignments.
  • Audit Planning & Execution:Produce planning memorandums, identify risks, and ensure effective audit evidence collection.
  • Staff Development:Provide guidance, training, and conduct appraisals to improve junior staff performance and skills.
  • Client Liaison:Act as the main point of contact for client queries, information gathering, and attend meetings as needed.
  • Business Development:Contribute to tenders, presentations, and networking to attract new business opportunities.
  • Budget Monitoring:Prepare and track time budgets for audit assignments, ensuring profitability and on-time delivery.
  • File Review & Quality Control:Ensure all audit files are complete and meet standards before final Partner review.
  • Billing & Reporting:Prepare fee schedules, bill clients, and report on profitability, addressing any write-offs or additional charges.

Skills and Experience

  • ACCA Qualified andstrong audit leadership skills, and up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards (e.g., SORP, FRS 102).
  • Skilled in software packages like Excel, Word, Sage, Alpha Tax, CaseWare, and VPM/Central.
  • Experience in managing and delegating tasks, building teams, and maintaining a client-focused, commercially aware approach.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
