Change Accountancy and Finance are partnering with a leading Financial Services firm in Edinburgh as they hire an Assistant Accountant to the team. A busy role, with a range of duties, across assisting and taking a lead in month end, as well as working closely with stakeholders to prepare and deliver analysis on a range of daily tasks, the role offers a great chance to build on core reporting and develop business interaction skills.
The successful candidate will have ownership of their duties, working closely with individuals across the business to ensure accuracy of accounts and the inputs to these, as well as study support provided to active studiers that wish to complete their exams.
Applicants must have a strong grasp of month end reporting; prepayments, accruals, journal posting, as well as excellent reconciliations experience - enjoying resolving queries and interacting with others as they do. Core duties of the role will include;
- Assisting in the production of month end accounts with supporting commentary and metrics
- Preparing a range of daily MI, working with the business to resolve queries
- Review of the balance sheet and posting of adjustments
- Monthly commentary and analysis of a range of key performance indicators, developing these with heads of as the business evolves
- Posting of journals and ensuring accuracy with daily and monthly movements
- Take a lead role in key projects within the team to drive process improvement
- Building a number of relationships across finance and other operational business areas
Ideally you will either be studying towards an accounting qualification or have relevant transferable skills from their current post which they are able to bring to the role. Key skills for the role are being able to perform and proactively work with the business to resolve queries in reconciliations, as well as having the right can do attitude to owning your workload.
Past experience within Financial Services, large corporate or complex businesses is of benefit due to the nature of the work and the deadlines that it has, as well as those within Practice looking to make their first move and continue studies. Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 + Excellent Benefits
