Your new companyYou will be joining an existing team of bus drivers working for a large organisation with a garage based in Midlothian. Due to an increase in routes being awarded, they are looking to add a bus driver to their fleet starting in April 2025. Your new roleYou will be reporting to the garage each morning and will be required to undertake the following tasks:

  • Driving the bus safely on assigned routes or for specific trips, such as school runs or planned excursions.
  • Performing vehicle checks to ensure the bus is roadworthy before starting the journey.
  • Helping passengers with boarding and disembarking, including assisting those with mobility challenges.
  • Managing the schedule to ensure punctual arrivals and departures.
  • Adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations while on the road.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle, either personally or by coordinating with cleaning services.
  • Responding to emergencies, such as breakdowns, by following appropriate procedures and ensuring passenger safety.

What you'll need to succeed You will need to be a qualified driver with a category D Licence & Tachograph. Due to the nature of this role, you will be interacting with members of the public and will be expected to have high levels of customer service at all times. You will be required to make your own way to the garage in the morning where there is free parking.What you'll get in returnYou will be offered an ongoing contract with the opportunity for immediate overtime. You will be paid weekly with the option of accrued annual leave and will receive regular updates from your Hays consultant.
