Flood Risk Consultant
We are currently assisting our client in Edinburgh to find an experienced Flood Risk Consultant to join their dynamic team.
The main duties of the experienced Flood Risk Consultant are:

- 路Provide expert advice and technical services for flood risk assessments, flood mitigation strategies, and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
- 路Collaborate with developers, contractors, and local authorities to ensure flood risk management projects are completed to the required specifications and regulatory standards.
- 路Prepare comprehensive flood risk reports, including assessments of flood hazards, drainage solutions, and environmental impacts, using appropriate software and methodologies.
- 路Liaise with planning teams, legal departments, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with planning policies and relevant flood risk legislation.
- 路Stay updated on changes in flood risk legislation, policy, national guidance, and technical specifications to ensure accurate application across the team.
- 路Support the coordination and implementation of flood risk management plans, including managing data collection and monitoring activities.
- 路Provide technical support and guidance during all stages of flood risk projects, from initial planning to final implementation.
What You Will Need to Succeed:

- 路A degree in Environmental Engineering, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 路Experience in flood risk management, including flood assessments, SuDS design, and floodplain mapping (desirable).
- 路Membership of a relevant professional organisation (e.g., Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management, desirable).
- 路Strong understanding of flood risk legislation, national policy, and relevant flood risk management techniques and tools.
- 路Excellent verbal and written communication skills for producing clear, concise technical reports and engaging with stakeholders.
- 路Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while collaborating effectively with team members and external partners.
- 路Political awareness and understanding of local government operations, planning processes, and the public sector's role in flood risk management.
