Senior Civil Engineer

I am seeking an accomplished and collaborative Senior Civil Engineer with a commitment to sustainable design and a drive to positively impact the built environment. This role is with a dynamic and successful multidisciplinary civil engineering consultancy based in Edinburgh. They are looking for an experienced professional to bring expertise across various sectors, including residential, education, commercial, development, and regeneration.
Key Responsibilities for this Senior Civil Engineering role:
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide project teams, supporting engineers at various experience levels.
- Project Oversight: Manage multiple projects to ensure quality, timeliness, and resource alignment with QMS and IMS standards.
- Professional Development: Support junior team members by identifying training needs, equipment requirements, and software licenses.
- Financial Management: Track project budgets and schedules, addressing changes with Project Associates or Directors to maintain profitability.
- Client Engagement: Foster client relationships, support repeat business, and contribute to new project bids to strengthen the firm's reputation.
Skills and Qualifications for this Senior Civil Engineering role include:
- A relevant degree, such as MEng in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Proficiency in software such as Microdrainage, Causeway Flow, Civil 3D, and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of industry standards and processes, including planning applications, procurement, and technical approvals.
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
- High proficiency in report writing, analysis, and MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Strong commercial awareness, teamwork, and time management abilities.
- Ideally Chartered or Incorporated with institutions such as ICE, IStructE, CIWEM, or CIHT.
