Cloud Engineering Lead
Salary: £86,964 - £102,310 DOELocation: Edinburgh - Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in office.
You will work with one of the UK’s biggest Retail, Digital, and Mobile banks with over 30 million customers. We’re investing £3bn into our People, Platforms, and Data strategy to build the Bank of the Future and grow sustainably.
As the Cloud Engineering Lead, you’ll guide our cross-functional cloud platform-enabling team, working collaboratively in an agile environment with other product engineering teams. You'll play a crucial role in the cloud journey, enhancing app and data solutions, and improving customer service pace and reliability for a Personalised Experience and Communication Platform.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with product engineering teams to guide their cloud journey and embed DevSecOps practices.
- Lead multiple cross-functional teams in delivering modern tech applications and efficient cloud deployment.
- Focus on DevOps, building pipelines, and deploying software regularly while improving deployment processes.
- Develop and mentor engineering teams, covering software, data, quality engineers, and DevOps.
- Foster a “Fail Fast, Learn Faster” culture to test new engineering methods and deliver value incrementally.
- Lead continuous deployment processes for applications on both Private and Public cloud.
- Oversee cloud platform engineering, including proving route-to-live, SRE approaches, IaC (Terraform & Ansible), observability standards, and security compliance.
What You'll Need:
- Leadership experience in managing engineering teams, with skills in coaching and mentoring developers.
- Proven experience in automation, continuous integration, and delivery into production environments.
- Experience with Public Cloud Solutions, particularly Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
- Proficiency with CI/CD DevOps tools like Jenkins, Sonar, Nexus, GIT, GitHub actions, and Spinnaker.
- Scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code (terraform, ansible) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
