Pontoon, an employment consultancy, is currently seeking a Risk Manager to join our client's team in Edinburgh. This is an initial 3-month contract position with the potential for extension, being offered with a day rate of 550 via Umbrella Company. As a Risk Manager, you will play a key role in supporting our client's drive to strengthen their wider financial control environment and provide support on risk and control matters across their business processes, including Finance.

What you'll do:

  • Play a critical role in the delivery of the Group's SOX assurance testing programme.
  • Use your judgement to make assessments on allocated control testing assignments, sharing valuable insights with the team.
  • Challenge existing approaches and contribute to improving our assurance processes, including leveraging technology.

What you'll need:

  • A passion for understanding risk and control, ideally with experience in the delivery of SOX assurance testing, particularly in financial services.
  • Demonstrated expertise in delivering insights, challenging the status quo, and building collaborative relationships across the organisation.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • The ability to assimilate complex information and data from various sources to solve problems and make control assessments.
  • An understanding of Financial Reporting Risk and the ability to challenge risk and control owners within a Finance landscape.
  • Additional experience in using technology-enabled solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of controls testing or related activities would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with control environments related to IT business applications and infrastructure in financial services would also be beneficial.
