We are looking for experienced Senior Mechanical Engineers to join our growing team. Based in Edinburgh, you will work on the design, development, and support of radar and electro-optic products, which are used in mission-critical systems across land, sea, and air. The Role:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of advanced mechanical systems, taking ownership of product design from concept to completion. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and delivering innovative mechanical solutions using 3D CAD software.
  • Conducting stress and thermal analysis, ensuring that products meet all technical, safety, and quality standards.
  • Leading and supporting design reviews to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to requirements.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and development-focused environment.
  • Working closely with engineers from other disciplines such as Systems and Electronics to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers, to deliver cost-effective, high-quality solutions.
  • Supporting investigations into technical issues and providing effective solutions to critical problems.
  • Ensuring that mechanical designs are manufacturable and supporting the continuous improvement of design processes.
  • Participating in cross-functional collaboration with local and international teams to deliver mechanical engineering excellence.
  • Driving your own professional development by staying up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

What You'll Ideally Bring:
To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a Senior or Principal role, with a track record of leading engineering activities through the design lifecycle.
  • Expertise in 3D CAD software (experience with Creo is desirable but not essential).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to challenge ideas and solutions constructively.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards this) with IMechE or equivalent, demonstrating UK-SPEC competencies.
  • The ability to mentor and support junior engineers, providing technical guidance and leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • A minimum of an upper second-class Master's Honours degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent job-related experience.
