The Role
The Technical Service Engineer will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of advanced packaging automation systems. This role is suited for an individual with strong electrical engineering experience who enjoys problem-solving, working with high-tech equipment, and providing excellent customer support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Expertise: Apply a strong understanding of electrical systems, ensuring all machinery is installed and maintained in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Reading Electrical Diagrams: Interpret and work from electrical schematics to troubleshoot and repair automated equipment effectively.
- Control Panel Wiring: Install and connect wiring within control panels, ensuring proper integration of electrical components.
- Capital equipment: Experience in fault finding electrically
- Commissioning of New Machinery: Conduct the installation and testing of newly deployed equipment to ensure it meets operational requirements and customer specifications.
- Breakdown Response & Repair: Quickly diagnose and resolve faults in machinery, minimizing downtime and ensuring efficient equipment performance.
- Routine Maintenance & Servicing: Carry out scheduled servicing of automation equipment, preventing potential issues and ensuring optimal performance.
- Fault Finding & Diagnostics: Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify electrical and mechanical faults, providing effective solutions.
- Software & System Integration: Support the installation and configuration of automation software, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Customer Support & Training: Provide technical guidance and training to customer personnel, ensuring they understand proper operation and maintenance of the equipment.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety protocols, ensuring work is carried out safely and in line with company and industry regulations.
- Travel & Field Service Coverage: Travel across the assigned region, primarily in the South West, to service customer sites, with minimal overnight stays required.
- Continuous Improvement & Proactiveness: Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, suggest upgrades, and contribute to process optimization within the company.
Qualifications & Experience
- City & Guilds qualification in electrical engineering or a significant level of industry experience in a relevant field
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Experience in a field service engineering role is advantageous
- Ability to work independently and manage service schedules effectively
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
