Virtualisation Engineering Lead (Hybrid 2 days per week in Edinburgh, Leeds, London)

Head Resourcing is pleased to be working with one of the UK's leading retail banks to recruit a Virtualisation Engineering Lead.

About the Role:

We are excited to partner with one of the UK's retail bank to find a highly skilled Virtualisation Engineering Lead. This role is perfect for an experienced leader who is passionate about technology and eager to drive innovation within the realm of Azure Virtual Desktop and infrastructure management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and support a team of engineers, ensuring they receive appropriate training in methodologies and understand their roles within the organization. Promote a culture of continuous development and collaboration.
  • Azure Virtual Desktop Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of the Azure Virtual Desktop products, focusing on personal and multi-session deployments. Ensure that these offerings consistently meet the organization's high standards for user experience, performance, security, and scalability.
  • Promote DevOps & SRE Practices: Advocate for a DevOps/Site Reliability Engineering approach, emphasizing automation and the use of Infrastructure as Code to achieve reliable, consistent delivery.
  • Strategic Planning: Play a key role in defining the strategic direction and roadmap for tools, technologies, and architecture, aligning them with the overall business and IT strategies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various business lines and product owners to ensure that technology solutions effectively support broader business objectives.
  • Compliance & Security: Work closely with internal teams, including Compliance and Cybersecurity, to ensure that all products and services adhere to regulatory and security standards.
  • Supplier Management: Oversee relationships with external suppliers to ensure they deliver the required levels of service and report regularly to senior management.
  • Innovation & Problem-Solving: Develop creative solutions by analysing complex and diverse information, driving innovation across the team and organization.

What We're Looking For:

  • Extensive Experience: A proven background in Infrastructure Engineering and Operations, especially in areas such as M365, Device Management, and Virtualization Technology, including Azure Virtual Desktop and Azure Infrastructure.
  • Automation Proficiency: Strong expertise in Infrastructure Automation, with hands-on experience in tools like Terraform and a solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: A passion for enhancing customer experiences through the application of advanced technology solutions.
  • Strong Communication: Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and with multiple stakeholders.

Desirable Skills:

  • A good understanding of Security and Compliance requirements within regulated industries.
  • Experience in Architecture Design and Governance.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automating Azure administration tasks.
  • Familiarity with Bicep (or ARM templates) for Azure resource deployment.
  • Solid knowledge of networking, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
