The role – Senior IT Support Specialist

The salary - £35,000 - £42,000

The location – Edinburgh or Perth

Hybrid working is on offer but expectation is successful candidate will be on-site at start of role.

I’m working with a fantastic organisation as they look to add a Senior It Support Specialist to their managed services team. Part of the senior technical team, the successful candidate will be the go-to escalation point for all things IT support, while also getting involved with IT infrastructure projects. A varied role, you’ll also get involved with cybersecurity projects alongside a dedicated cybersecurity team and handle things both on-premises and via cloud environments.

This is a truly varied role that will be perfect for someone who likes to be hands-on, tackle a wide range of technologies and provide excellent support directly to clients.

Your day-to-day:

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support, tackling a variety of troubleshooting requirements across hardware, software, servers and networks.
  • Be the technical lead on upgrade and migration projects, from planning to aftercare.
  • Liaise directly with clients, both technical and non-technical, during the troubleshooting process.
  • Work alongside the cybersecurity team to deploy and configure firewalls and endpoint protection.
  • Monitor client server performance and network traffic, and respond to alerts as they arise to ensure disruption is always kept to a minimum.
  • Provide mentorship and support for junior technicians.
  • Configure and troubleshoot network issues.

About you:

  • You’ll have experience working in a busy IT environment, ideally as part of a managed services team.
  • Experience delivering high level technical support.
  • Experience working with Office 365, Windows servers, active directory and VMware.
  • Experience with networking, including switches, routers and firewalls.
  • Experience delivering on IT projects.
  • You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to put across technical requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
