Senior Network and Automation Specialist - Edinburgh Hybrid - 80-100K + 30% Bonus

Hybrid - Central Edinburgh (3 days in per week, 2 days WFH)

Lorien's client, a great and expanding firm in the FinTech domain operating in the world's largest financial market and providing offerings to a global client base, is looking to recruit a Senior Network and Automation Specialist to further grow their technical function, and ensure the best performance possible from their core, critical on-prem networks.

In this role, you can expect to be:

  • Developing and optimizing fast and robust on-premise network systems to ensure reliability and top-tier performance
  • Implementing and refining automation to enhance deployment processes and ensure consistency across configurations, and maintaining/enhancing IaC
  • Using monitoring tools and performance testing to reduce latency and continuously improve efficiency
  • Managing networking devices
  • Diagnosing technical issues, managing escalations when needed, and adhering to structured change management practices
  • Collaborating across teams to deliver excellent service and tailored solutions

What they're looking for:

Either

A strong background in hands-on programming with Python (or similar language and eager to transition across into Python), coupled with an interest in bringing your software expertise into a networking context if you haven't already.

Or

Demonstrated expertise in network analytics / monitoring tools, supported by dealings in latency-sensitive network environments coupled with proven skills and expertise in network automation.

Our client is happy to provide training to address any gaps in your skills or experience with whichever area above you are less familiar with.

Ideally you'll also bring these to the table, however these are preferable rather than outright necessities:

  • Managing configurations for a variety of network hardware, such as low-latency switches, firewalls, routers, and load balancers
  • Hands-on experience with network automation tools and offerings like Ansible, REST APIs, or Python (or technologies equivalent to these and willingness to cross over)
  • Advanced understanding of network protocols, including BGP, OSPF, EVPN, route filtering, and IPsec VPNs
  • Familiarity with Git, SSL certificates, and Linux systems
  • Industry-recognized certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent credentials)
