The role – IT Technician

The salary - £27,500 - £33,000

The location – Edinburgh

I’m working with a fantastic local organisation as they look to add an IT Technician to their team to support with all aspects of the IT function. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of smooth operation of the IT Infrastructure, which will require strong technical skills and excellent knowledge of the full Microsoft stack and systems, including experience with Active Directory and knowledge of firewalls and anti-virus systems. This is very much a role where no two days will be the same.

Your day-to-day:

  • Maintain essential IT operations across the organisation, including operating systems, applications, servers, software and hardware.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance and administration on network infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain the Microsoft 365 infrastructure, administering setup and user access.
  • Install, maintain and update software.
  • Maintenance and upgrading of hardware.
  • Manage the organisations WiFi and telephony system.
  • Monitor the quality of the IT function, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ordering, stocking and replenishing IT consumables.
  • Assist the management team in compiling the annual IT budget.

About you:

  • Strong IT support skills with experience gained in root cause diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to response to IT queries, liaising with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Confidence with being the sole point of contact for all IT related matters.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft stack, including key Microsoft packages such as Outlook and Teams.
  • Experience with firewall management.
  • Experience with troubleshooting hardware in a hands-on environment, with experience building and refurbishing devices.
  • Ability to be budget conscious.
