Are you an experienced Service Designer who is looking for an exciting public sector opportunity?

Our client is looking for an experienced Service Designer to join their team on an initial 6 month contract based in either their Glasgow or Edinburgh office. The successful applicant will split their time to provide ongoing design capacity of customer and business insights to move the project forwards and will also support the Head of Corporate Development and their team on creating a Target Operating Model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Map complete service processes to align with both user needs and business objectives.
  • Revamp existing services or implement new ones, with a focus on what is most important to the customer.
  • Communicate the service design methodology and maturity, explaining how it aligns with the existing service design approach and digital service standards.
  • Contribute at any phase of the service lifecycle to ensure continuity and quality.
  • Support the Service Design Community of Practice (CoP), collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with any additional tasks as directed by the Lead Service Designer.

Key Applicant Requirements

  • Stakeholder engagement - Effectively listens to technical and business stakeholders, managing expectations, facilitating difficult discussions, and building consensus across diverse teams and services.
  • Leadership and mentoring - Lead by example, guiding others to make informed design decisions through mentoring, pairing, and role modelling while sharing best practices.
  • Strategic design and risk management - Visualises and implements end-to-end service designs, applies appropriate risk methodologies, and makes decisions involving medium to high risk and complexity, ensuring standards are met.
  • Problem-solving and constraint management - Identifies and communicates business constraints, challenges their validity, and works within them to deliver effective solutions.
  • Data-driven design - Utilises both quantitative and qualitative data to inform service design decisions and implements solutions for assisted digital services.
  • Team dynamics and communication - Proactively resolves team issues, engages in timely feedback, and helps teams prioritise work to achieve agreed-upon outcomes, including MVP scope.

This role comes with hybrid working however applicants should live within a commutable distance of Glasgow or Edinburgh. This role is Outside IR35 and comes with a max day rate of £475.
