Job: Controls Engineer, Edinburgh

We are seeking a results-driven, innovative, and creative Controls Engineer to join a client in Edinburgh. Your primary focus will be maintaining current control platforms and assisting in project design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and troubleshoot process control systems.
  • Engineer, design, and test electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • PLC/HMI hardware/software design, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC logic.
  • Design and implement process network infrastructure.
  • Communicate with vendors, process engineering, contractors, and project management.
  • Specify and procure controls hardware and field instrumentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and government regulations.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of PLC ladder logic and process control systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc).
  • Ability to design/enhance HMI applications.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing complex electrical problems.
  • Knowledge of automation and electrical system design.
  • Familiarity with applicable Electrical Codes.
  • Experience in plant commissioning.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
