Job: Controls Engineer, Edinburgh
We are seeking a results-driven, innovative, and creative Controls Engineer to join a client in Edinburgh. Your primary focus will be maintaining current control platforms and assisting in project design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and troubleshoot process control systems.
- Engineer, design, and test electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
- PLC/HMI hardware/software design, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC logic.
- Design and implement process network infrastructure.
- Communicate with vendors, process engineering, contractors, and project management.
- Specify and procure controls hardware and field instrumentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and government regulations.
Key Competencies:
- Strong understanding of PLC ladder logic and process control systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc).
- Ability to design/enhance HMI applications.
- Skilled in diagnosing and repairing complex electrical problems.
- Knowledge of automation and electrical system design.
- Familiarity with applicable Electrical Codes.
- Experience in plant commissioning.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
