Job Overview:

They are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team, working remotely but with travel to Edinburgh and client sites as needed. The successful candidate will lead mechanical design projects from inception to completion, contributing to a variety of sectors, including residential, commercial, and industrial, and manage a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and specification of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Collaborate closely with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated and efficient designs.
Provide expertise and guidance on sustainability and energy efficiency strategies, including energy planning, EPCs, and SAP calculations.
Conduct mechanical surveys and reporting, including dilapidation, acquisition, condition, and asset surveys, ensuring accurate recommendations for repair or replacement of services systems.
Develop design documentation across all RIBA stages, including schematics, layouts, and specifications, for mechanical systems and utilities.
Attend client sites regularly to monitor progress, review installations, and ensure alignment with the design intent.
Provide mentorship to junior engineers and support the wider team with technical expertise.

Qualifications and Experience:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
Several years of experience in mechanical design within the Building Services industry.
Experience in preparing detailed design documentation, including plans, layouts, schematics, and specifications, across various RIBA stages.
Familiarity with UK building regulations, energy standards, and sustainability practices.
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and Revit
Full UK driving license and ability to travel to Edinburgh and client sites as needed.
