Three Bridges Recruitment is partnering with an Edinburgh-based professional services organisation with a renowned reputation across the industry. They are currently looking for a Payroll Officer on a part time (21 hours per week) permanent basis.

In this key role, you will work closely with our client’s payroll bureau and wider Finance and HR teams. You will be responsible for the accurate preparation and processing of reports, budgets and forecasts.

This is an ideal role for an experienced payroller who is looking for a part time role with a leading organisation that prioritises development of staff.

Job

The role of Payroll Officer will give you the opportunity to be involved with the following:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the external payroll provider
  • Collaborate with the Finance department to deliver monthly and annual payroll reports and analyses
  • Ensure payroll records are accurately maintained and promptly updated
  • Revise payroll procedures as needed and communicate any changes to the HR and Finance teams
  • Verify the accuracy of monthly payroll reports and ensure proper approval
  • Maintain standardised documentation for audit compliance to mitigate potential risks
  • Ensure statutory payments are properly documented and processed in accordance with legal requirements
  • Act as the primary liaison between the HR department and other teams on payroll and budgetary matters
  • Provide the Finance team with monthly reports comparing payroll budgets to actual costs
  • Prepare monthly payroll forecasts and budgets
  • Ensure timely payment of employees
  • Conduct reconciliations between payroll data and the general ledger

You

As a Payroll Officer you will be skilled &/or qualified in the following:

  • Strong understanding of reward and benefits, including payroll management, tax, pension, SSP, SMP procedures, legislation, and calculations
  • Extensive experience in payroll, ideally supported by a relevant qualification
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly in Excel and formula creation
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • A positive and adaptable attitude, committed to delivering high standards in a fast-paced environment
