Reed Accountancy are working with a fantastic client in the legal sector who are looking to hire a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to oversee and manage the high-volume payroll functions for the firm.

This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll operations across multiple entities in Scotland and England. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating the entire payroll process, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations and employment laws.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Coordinate and oversee the entire payroll process, including data collection, verification, and calculation of salaries, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Process PAYE deductions and send payroll information to third-party providers and HMRC.
  • Run payroll for four separate entities, respecting different tax and NI regimes.
  • Conduct monthly payroll analysis for final approval, identify and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Assist with annual salary and bonus preparations and maintain up-to-date HR records.
  • Stay informed on tax regulations and employment laws to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and file tax reports (P60’s, P11D’s) and handle payroll tax audits.
  • Maintain confidential payroll records and develop document retention policies.
  • Streamline and automate payroll processing using appropriate software.
  • Generate payroll reports for HR review and manage payroll-related communications with management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in payroll management, preferably across multiple entities.
  • Strong understanding of payroll software and systems, with the ability to integrate and maintain such systems
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and employment laws relevant to payroll processing.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
