Job Overview

They are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a new build student accommodation development in Edinburgh. This is a pivotal role where you will oversee the project from inception to completion, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Take full ownership of the project, managing all aspects of the design and build process from pre-construction through to handover.
  • Team Management: Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team, including subcontractors, consultants, and in-house staff, to deliver the project on time and within budget.
  • Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring their expectations are met and exceeded throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Design Coordination: Work closely with architects, engineers, and other consultants to ensure the design is practical, cost-effective, and aligns with the client's vision.
  • Programme Management: Develop, monitor, and update project programmes, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain stringent quality assurance processes, ensuring all works meet the required standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement effective mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Health & Safety: Uphold the highest standards of health and safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Cost Management: Work closely with the commercial team to manage project budgets, including the preparation of regular financial reports and forecasts.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a proven track record in delivering design and build projects, ideally in the student accommodation or flatted residential sectors.
  • Qualifications: Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Chartered status (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB) is highly desirable.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams to achieve excellence.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction methodologies, design coordination, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
