The client has various opportunities within this role, ranging from Junior positions to Senior. The salary ranges from 35000 - 55000 depending upon experience.

Our client is a leading engineering firm specialising in automation projects in the Water, Industrial Automation, and Process Engineering sectors.

In this role, you will manage control system projects, either independently or as part of a team, while adhering to project timelines. Your responsibilities will include developing Functional Design Specifications and PLC, HMI, and SCADA software during the design and software development phases. You will also enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working, allowing you to balance office work and remote tasks effectively.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Interpret User Requirement Specification packages and reverse-engineer existing control system software.
  • Produce functional design specifications and configure PLC and SCADA packages.
  • Conduct factory and site testing, along with site-based commissioning.
  • Coordinate and mentor junior staff as needed.
  • Monitor and plan projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Act as Engineering Coordinator on small projects, liaising across the Technology division.
  • Ensure all engineering and design activities comply with national and international standards, client requirements, and best engineering practices.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in PLC software development using devices from at least two manufacturers, such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Schneider.
  • Experienced in HMI software development using devices from at least two manufacturers.
  • Familiar with multiple communication protocols, including EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, PROFIBUS DP and PA, and Modbus TCP/IP (preferable).
  • Experience with SCADA systems and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of virtual machines (VMware).
  • Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Capable of taking initiative and working independently.
  • Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.
