Are you a highly skilled and experienced Financial Assistant seeking a stable role within a thriving family business?

We're looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our client's team in Newbridge, Midlothian. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a vital part of a well-established company experiencing continued growth.

Important Note: This position requires daily on-site attendance at our Newbridge, Midlothian location. Only candidates who are and can commute to the office daily and possessing the right to work in the UK (specifically Scotland) will be considered.

About the Role:

As a core member of the finance team, you'll manage a wide range of essential financial functions:

  • Payroll Processing: End-to-end payroll management for approximately 20 employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing, including all statutory submissions.
  • Management Accounting: Preparation and analysis of detailed management accounts, providing key insights into financial performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • VAT Returns & Compliance: Handling all VAT-related tasks, including returns, reconciliations, and ensuring adherence to HMRC regulations.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Accurate and timely reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Credit Control: Proactive management of outstanding debts, minimizing bad debt risk.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparation and presentation of clear, concise financial reports for informed decision-making.
  • General Accounting: Assistance with invoicing, purchase ledger, trial balance preparation, and other general accounting tasks.

Essential Requirements (Please do not apply if you do not meet all of these):

  • Location: Must currently reside within a commutable distance of Newbridge, Midlothian and be able to work on site daily.
  • Right to Work: Must possess the unrestricted right to work in the UK, specifically within Scotland.
  • Experience: Proven, demonstrable experience as a Financial Assistant or in a similar role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Payroll Expertise: Hands-on experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Management Accounts: Proven ability to prepare and analyze comprehensive management accounts.
  • VAT Returns: Extensive experience in handling VAT returns and compliance.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong financial accounting knowledge, including understanding of accounting principles and best practices.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
