We are excited to announce an opportunity for an EU Sustainability Policy Director.
A newly-created role, the EU Sustainability Policy Director is responsible for coordinating the development of company strategy on EU sustainability policies and managing execution of advocacy efforts to meet company goals. This position leads analysis of proposed legislative actions and works with the business to determine the potential impact on the organization and develop appropriate responses. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with EU officials and politicians on EU sustainability policies, as well as building a network of stakeholder relationships, notably with a focus on European business and specialist sustainability associations. This position coordinates with country leadership and the Government and Public Affairs Heads to advance our engagement on EU sustainability policies in national capitals and with the national business associations, notably those that are members of BusinessEurope. Where valuable, the EU Sustainability Policy Director will provide subject-matter expertise to assist with the management of national-level sustainability issues.

Responsibilities
- Capture, review and summarize policy/regulatory developments for potential impact, including horizon scanning for future policy impacts
- Communicate significant policy actions to appropriate levels of management
- Assist in formulating company positions on priority issues, while marshalling supporting data and developing messaging and materials to enable effective communication
- Shape appropriate engagementstrategies and lead their day-to-day execution.
- Interact directly with officials at all levels of EU institutions
- Interact directly with officers at all levels of EU business and specialist sustainability associations
- Cultivate relationships and maintains communications with key, diverse sustainability stakeholders throughout Brussels that support to the company’s agenda, including attendance at events, conferences etc.
- Work with Enterprise country leadership and the Government and Public Affairs Heads to coordinate our engagement on EU sustainability policies in national capitals and with the national business associations, notably those that are members of BusinessEurope
- Provide subject-matter expertise to assist with the management of national-level sustainability issues in our Corporate Markets
- Manage the activities of EU government and public affairs and communications consultancies
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Direct experience working with the key European Commission Directorate Generals, European Parliament Committees and Member State PermReps and Ministries shaping sustainability policies.
- Direct or indirect experience working with the European Non-financial Advisory Group (“EFRAG”) on ESG reporting standards.
- Direct or indirect experience working with AmCham EU, BusinessEurope, the US Chamber, BDI, MEDEF, CEOE and IBEC.
- Knowledge of key sustainability policies and issues impacting the mobility sector preferred.
- Knowledge of ESG policies and standards also preferred.
- Full competency in spoken and written English
- Second language: especially French / German / Spanish, (Preferred but not essential)
