Our globally established and highly recognised Client continues to be the market leader for the design, manufacture and supply of marine raft / lifejacket / marine safety equipment used globally within the defence and marine sectors.

Reporting into the Programme Manager, you will sit as part of the engineering family who are responsible for creating everything from the initial product concept to the final design of their globally supplied products to the marine, defence and aerospace sectors in particular.

Your role will manage the design engineering process & team for a highly specialised product set, providing the highest level of engineering subject matter expertise to drive forward product development and innovation.

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Leading allocated projects according to accepted methodology, ensuring appropriate governance is applied and performance metrics identified, monitored, and reported to ensure adequate progress at all stages of the project lifecycle and within individual contract terms
  • Documenting a clearly defined project scope and performance metrics; creates workable project plans
  • Managing project schedules and work breakdown structures
  • Establishing and maintain governance arrangements for the delivery of allocated projects and communicates progress to relevant stakeholders, governance boards and identified external partners
  • Identify, track and manage project risk, communicating the impact of risk on cost, quality and delivery schedule
  • Ensuring effective and complete project documentation
  • Supporting production of commercial proposals, bids and quotes, including selection of suitable sub-contractors, equipment suppliers and equipment
  • Reviewing contract specifications, terms and conditions to identify costs and prepare budgets for all allocated projects; manages costs to budget for all allocated projects
  • Providing technical subject matter expertise to interpret and apply policy and regulatory requirements to ensure product set keeps pace with legislation, guidance and best practice

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

  • Wide and deep general engineering experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Ideal exposure to MS-Project / have Prince 2 accreditation
  • Managerial or supervisory experience
  • Must have problem solving skills
  • Willingness to travel

This role will be in support of highly specialised and qualified products supplied to a global market. Security Clearances may be required as this company operates in the defence sectors. Therefore, British Nationals/suitable nationalities can only be accepted.

This is a site-based role working within a process driven environment. We are seeking candidates who have a drive and enthusiasm to support the accurate delivery of projects.
