Your New Role As Indirect Tax Assistant:

Reporting directly to the Tax Manager, the Indirect Tax Assistant will focus predominantly on assisting with Excise Duty & Indirect Tax compliance, with the opportunity to be involved in compliance, VAT, Customs and Excise and Climate Change Levy (CCL).

This role offers massive opportunity for an individual to really develop the breadth of their tax technical knowledge in many areas of taxation.

Role Responsibilities:

Assist the Indirect Tax Manager in preparing returns related to Excise Duty, VAT, and Customs.
Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of quarterly Group VAT return.
Provide monthly payment reminders to internal departments for tax related payments.
Ensure all aspects of Excise Duty related, VAT related, and Customs related areas are compliant.
Assist in coordinating with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and other relevant authorities regarding tax matters.
Assist the Indirect tax manager in ensuring all RDCO and relevant licences are in place for any new customers requiring specific products.
Assist the Indirect tax manager in ensuring all duty deferment statements are in place for relevant customers.
Assist the Indirect tax manager in ensuring all movements into and out of the warehouse are compliant, paperwork etc. in place.
Assist in the completion of all customs paperwork, with assistance from our Customs Agents.
Maintain accurate records of tax-related documents and correspondence.
Support the tax team in organising meetings and preparing necessary documentation.
Assist the Indirect Tax Manager in the completion of quarterly CCL returns.
Scope to get involved with ad hoc advisory projects supporting the indirect tax manager.
Assist the Indirect Tax Manager in providing codings for all purchase and sales contracts into and out of all locations.
Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and service delivery

HSSE, Audit Reporting and Compliance
- Support the creation and updating of Departmental KPI data.
- Support and adhere to best practice for compliance and reporting
- Support and adhere to the Companys policy and practices
- Support and fulfil audit reporting and requirements as directed by the Departmental responsible person

Cost and Efficiency Delivery
- Support and adhere to process, cost and operational improvements activities undertaken by the team and wider organisation.
- Identify and escalate to responsible person potential cost efficiencies for Department
- Work collaboratively with the department to develop and implement project commercial strategies.

Experience & Qualifications Required to Apply:

To be considered for this role you shall have operated in a similar tax focused role, and have gained knowledge within either practice or industry (preferred). With a formal qualification, or on the way to achieving one (ATT Qualified or ACA, ACCA, ICAEW or CTA) you may also have a qualifications in Customs & Excise (desirable). With experience of Indirect taxation you shall have knowledge of Customs & Excise, UK VAT, and an understanding of Intrastat and EC Sales management. With a desire to further your knowledge.
