Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ellesmere Port-based mainstream primary school that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to recruit a reliable and motivated teaching assistant for a long-term full-time temporary contract to support the reception and KS1 (key stage 1) classes. This is a long-term full-time contract starting on 22/04/2025. This school is ideally looking to appoint someone with an NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification, but applications from experienced unqualified teaching assistants are being considered.

Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be working in the reception and key stage 1 classes. You will work alongside the class teachers to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment for your new pupils by utilising an array of learning equipment and encouraging all pupils to partake in learning material. You will offer 1:1 and small group support across the classes, holding intervention and booster sessions in all core subjects. You will also support a number of pupils with additional learning needs, with an emphasis on SALT as a number of pupils are struggling with their speech and language. To support this, you will offer phonics interventions and basic SALT on a 1:1 basis. You will also offer intense intervention and boosters in numeracy and literacy to lower/mixed ability pupils in KS1.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience supporting pupils aged between 4-11 within a classroom environment within the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Experience delivering phonics interventions on a 1:1 basis
  • Experience delivering intervention and booster sessions
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantgeous
