We are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner to join a dynamic transport team, supporting the scheduling, vehicle planning, and driver management within the road transport operation..
The role will involve liaising with subcontractors and the maintenance team to ensure all vehicles are available for scheduled work and adhering to compliance standards.
The Candidate;
- Transport route planning experience
- Previous experience of working in Container Loads or General Haulage operation
- Ability to work under time pressure and towards challenging targets
- Have a dynamic approach to solve resource and planning resolution/ modifications
- PC literate (must include MS Office – Excel and Outlook)
- Must be able to prioritise and manage their workload, requiring excellent organisational skills
- Working knowledge of Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive Regulations
- A valid Full UK driving License
- Proficient in the use of tachographs and TMS (Transport Management Systems)
- A good geographic knowledge
- OLAT Awareness Trained (advantageous but not essential)
- An excellent team player, able to work on own initiative and make decisions
- A strong work ethic with the ability to focus, while contributing to a collaborative and positive team dynamic
- An effective communicator
- Ability to question, challenge and improve upon existing processes
Duties and Responsibilities;
- To efficiently and compliantly manage the road transport operation including customer engagement, vehicle planning and driver management.
- To develop relationships with customers and port operations to ensure all transport movements are booked and completed to agreed standards.
- To develop relationships with and manage transport subcontractors
- Liaise with truck maintenance team to ensure vehicles are made available for their required maintenance.
- Printing and issuing of delivery documentation to drivers
- Create jobs on in-house computer system, which generates required job number
- Collating driver paperwork to cross check against daily plan, ensuring all work booked has been fulfilled and built on the in-house system
- Collecting driver timesheets, checking details reflect the work you booked them to complete
- Responding to all enquiries, via phone, email and in person; responding promptly within agreed SLAs
- Be part of the ‘on call’ out of hours rota
- Liaise with the Account Team and Head of Logistics regarding invoicing status for month end
- To comply with the Company’s Health & Safety and Quality Management policies in all aspects of daily work
