Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ellesmere Port-based single form entry primary and nursery school that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to appoint a reliable and experienced teaching assistant to support the reception and preschool classes. This is a long-term full-time contract with an immediate start available. This school is willing to wait until after half-term for the right individual.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting the preschool and reception classes. You will work alongside the class teachers to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment by taking a pupil-centred approach and utilising all the learning equipment. You will complete regular observations and learn through play sessions to promote pupils' social and emotional development and hold phonics sessions and assessments on a 1:1 and small group basis. A number of pupils in the classes either have EHCP's or are currently on a pathway, so you will be required to liaise with key workers and aid with speech and language sessions and implement positive behaviour strategies including positive reinforcement, traffic light systems, and sensory therapy.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience supporting EYFS/KS1 pupils in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification
  • Experience delivering phonics sessions and assessments
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN
