Are you an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Engineer seeking a hands-on, in-house role with a market-leading food processing OEM? This is an excellent opportunity for a former Service Engineer or an individual with experience in capital equipment (slicing, dicing, grading) to take ownership of machine testing, maintenance, and customer demonstrations.
About the CompanyA leading OEM supplying high-performance food processing equipment to the meat, fish, and poultry industries. The company provides capital equipment solutions to global clients, including slicers, dicers, graders, and portioning machines. As part of its continued growth, the business is seeking an experienced engineer to oversee machine preparation, refurbishment, and testing at its Haddenham facility.
Role OverviewThis is a workshop-based position focused on the preparation, testing, and demonstration of food processing machinery. The role is critical in ensuring that all rental and new machines are fully operational and meet the highest standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Machine Testing & Preparation – Inspecting, testing, and servicing returned rental machines to ensure they are fully functional and ready for the next hire.
- Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance – Diagnosing faults, repairing and replacing faulty components, and ensuring all machines meet OEM standards.
- Electrical Wiring & Rewiring – Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, rewiring machines, and troubleshooting electrical faults.
- Pneumatics & Hydraulics – Fault-finding and working on pneumatic and hydraulic systems within the machines.
- Assembly & Machine Setup – Assisting in the build, commissioning, and testing of new machinery before dispatch.
- Customer Demonstrations – Managing a small component workspace where machinery operation and capabilities are showcased to customers.
- Stock Control & Component Management – Overseeing the storage and replenishment of key components required for machine servicing.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Hands-on mechanical and electrical engineering experience with industrial machinery.
- The ability to read electrical diagrams, fault-find, and rewire machines.
- Experience working with pneumatics and hydraulics.
- A background in machine servicing, testing, or commissioning.
- A preference for working in a structured workshop environment.
- Experience from an OEM, food, or capital equipment background, or previous field service experience.
