I am actively recruiting for a role in Wynyard and keen to speak with those who have recently graduated with a science degree, in particular chemistry with 1+ years lab experience. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead innovative technical projects and contribute to the development of cutting-edge products and applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and execute specialised experimental programmes to drive technology advancements.

  • Develop and evaluate novel product design technologies for the plastics and/or paper markets, supporting business growth in coatings applications.

  • Synthesise and assess new pigments, compositions, and morphologies at the laboratory scale for product innovation.

  • Analyse and report application test results to support Scientists, Project Leaders, and Technical Support Managers.

  • Provide technical support, training, and problem-solving to enhance team development.

  • Enhance efficiency and effectiveness of innovation programmes by contributing knowledge and ideas.

  • Develop new application testing and synthesis methods to align with evolving business needs.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and accurate results.

  • Present findings to internal stakeholders and contribute to the wider technical community.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.

  • Experience in research and development studies.

  • Hands-on experience with plastics technology and testing (extrusion, injection moulding, film production).

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of paint, coatings, or inks technology, with experience in formulation development.

  • Background in the chemical industry or closely related sectors.

  • Understanding of pigment science and its applications in plastics, polymers, paper, and laminates.

  • Familiarity with materials chemistry testing.
