Why Do We Want You?

Mercia, part of Wilmington plc, is looking for a proactive Events Planning Team Leader to oversee the planning and coordination of our training events.

This role requires a strong background in project management, logistics, and forward planning.

You’ll lead a small team, ensuring training sessions are scheduled efficiently and run smoothly.

We’ll provide full training on the events and training aspects, so prior industry experience isn’t necessary, what matters is your ability to organise, plan, and manage a team effectively.

Job Purpose, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the scheduling, coordination, and logistics of training events.
  • Managing a small team, providing leadership, support, and conducting 1:1s, KPIs, and performance reviews.
  • Working with internal teams, venues, and suppliers to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Handling operational challenges, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring timely delivery of training sessions.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Proven experience in team leadership, including setting KPIs, conducting 1:1s, and managing performance.
  • Strong project management and forward-planning skills.
  • The ability to manage logistics and organise complex schedules.
  • A strategic mindset, capable of identifying challenges and finding solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general IT tools.

To be successful in this role, it would be great if you have:

  • Experience in event or training coordination (this is not essential – we’ll provide full training).
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally within the UK for on-site event management.
