To undertake the proper lettings of temporary accommodation to those who have approached the Council for housing advice and assistance and have been deemed we owe an interim duty to in accordance with the Homeless Reduction Act 2017

To maintain a working knowledge of legislation and subsequent or relevant statutes, case law and Council policy relating to the management and provision of temporary accommodation.

To process TA void properties from vacation to re-let within target timescales and budget guidelines, and to manage moves within different forms of TA minimising the use of Bed and Breakfast/Hotel Accommodation.

Main Accountabilities:

To ensure compliance with gas and electricity, and health and safety regulations in temporary accommodation, and the installation and maintenance of appropriate furniture and fittings in liaison with designated furniture suppliers as appropriate.

To monitor the performance of temporary accommodation providers and enforce relevant contracts or Service Level Agreements to ensure effective management of TA stock. To procure new temporary accommodation providers to increase available stock.

In conjunction with the Income Recovery/Arrears Team and the Temporary Accommodation Finance Officer, to check and validate invoices, hotelier signing in sheets to ensure proper financial control and the timely discharge of the Council's liabilities.

To let temporary accommodation properties and ensure relevant advice is provided to tenants and rent payment systems are commenced. To carry out sign-ups at the property or in Council offices. To visit the property after sign-up, ensuring that it is in a habitable condition and advising the client of the tenancy conditions. To make regular inspections to prevent and detect fraud.
