  • Monthly Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts for the College and its subsidiaries, including KPIs, budget vs. actual income and expenditure, and departmental contributions, within 10 working days.

  • Adherence to Financial Regulations: Ensure compliance with the College's Financial Regulations to ensure value for money in all financial activities.

  • Budget Management Training: Provide training and support to budget holders, enabling them to effectively manage their budgets using the finance system.

  • Chart of Accounts Maintenance: Design and maintain the chart of accounts, cost centres, job codes, and account codes while overseeing departmental projects and driving process improvements.

  • Budget Assistance: Support the CFO in the budget-setting process, ensuring effective control over income, expenditure, and asset capitalization for sound financial management.

  • Primary Finance Contact: Act as the main point of contact between budget holders and the Finance department, addressing queries and strengthening organizational controls.

  • Budget Preparation Support: Assist budget holders in preparing annual budgets and ensuring accurate budget phasing over time.

  • Variance Analysis & Forecasting: Collaborate with budget holders to investigate variances and produce mid-year and year-end income and expenditure forecasts.

  • Accounting Records & Reconciliation: Ensure accurate accounting records through timely reconciliation of control accounts within 10 days of the month-end.

  • Report Development: Work with MIS and HR to develop reports that support monthly management accounts and financial statements.

  • Payroll Control: Prepare payroll control accounts, ensuring accurate payroll coding and alignment with budgets.

  • Journal Processing: Process journals, accruals, and prepayments to ensure timely and accurate management account updates.

  • Ledger Integrity: Ensure the financial integrity of the nominal ledger by completing month-end and year-end ledger closures.

  • Staffing Requests Review: Review and recommend staffing requests in collaboration with HR and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

  • Additional Responsibilities: Provide coverage for Finance colleagues and perform additional duties as required based on skills and expertise.
