Management Accountant

A fast-growing retailer and consumer goods business based in North London is looking for a new Management Accountant to join their finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will be responsible for the production of monthly management accounts, cost analysis, sales analysis, budgeting and forecasting, as well as assisting with new shop openings and franchise billing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly Management Reporting: Prepare comprehensive monthly management reports, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and financial performance analysis, focusing on key metrics such as margins.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting Support: Assist in the preparation and analysis of budgeting and forecasting reports to support strategic planning.
  • Sales Analysis: Track and report on group sales performance on a weekly basis, identifying trends and variances against targets.
  • Profit and Loss Analysis: Conduct detailed profit and loss reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive profitability improvements.
  • Overhead Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis of overhead expenditures to support cost efficiency and budgetary control.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform accurate and timely reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts to ensure integrity and reliability of financial data.
  • New Shop Openings and Franchisee Billing: Analyse costs related to new store openings and coordinate billing for franchisees, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
  • Inventory and Stock Control: Collaborate closely with the warehouse team to oversee stock management, investigate discrepancies, and improve stock accuracy.
  • Fixed Asset Register Management: Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register to ensure accurate recording and depreciation tracking of company assets.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Management Accountant with strong experience in technical and commercial accounting working in industry. Whilst industry experience within FMCG/Consumer Goods/Manufacturing is preferred, it is not essential, and a candidate from a different industry but with a drive and passion to learn a new sector will also be considered. Advanced Excel skills, IT proficiency and technical skills will be needed. The candidate must be able to utilise strong communication skills and commercial insight to aid decision-making.
