We are currently seeking a dedicated Head of Philosophy, Religion, and Ethics to join a vibrant school in Enfield, North London.

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Leadership: Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive Philosophy, Religion, and Ethics curriculum that engages students with thought-provoking content and encourages critical thinking across various belief systems and ethical frameworks.

• Effective Instruction: Provide leadership in delivering high-quality, innovative teaching strategies that make philosophical, religious, and ethical studies accessible and engaging for all students.

• Student Development: Guide and mentor students in their academic and personal growth, fostering a deep understanding of diverse perspectives and ethical reasoning, and preparing them for future academic and professional pursuits.

• Department Management: Lead and support a team of educators within the Philosophy, Religion, and Ethics department, ensuring the delivery of a coherent and well-structured educational experience.

• Assessment and Evaluation: Oversee student assessment and progress, using a variety of evaluation methods to monitor and enhance student learning and achievement.

• Professional Development: Stay abreast of current developments in Philosophy, Religion, and Ethics, integrating new ideas and methodologies into the department's teaching practices, and participating in continuous professional development.

• Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic direction of the department and the wider school, ensuring that Philosophy, Religion, and Ethics remain integral to the educational experience.

The Successful Candidate Will Possess:

• Relevant Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or a related field. A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) for secondary education.

• Experience: Demonstrable experience teaching Philosophy, Religion, and Ethics at the secondary level, with a track record of leadership or management within an educational setting.

• Knowledge: Strong understanding of the national curriculum for Philosophy, Religion, and Ethics, and effective assessment methods.

• Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage students and colleagues. Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive department.

• Safeguarding: A deep understanding of safeguarding and child protection, with an enhanced DBS on the update service.
