Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Power company to recruit a Mechanical Engineer to work at a CCGT Power Station in North London.

The Mechanical Engineer role comes with a starting salary of up to 60,000 + private medical + bonus.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will:

  • Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will undertake and support the daily planned maintenance activities.
  • Complete fault finding, diagnosis and repairs of the plant which include gearboxes, valves, compressors, pumps, fans, boilers etc
  • Undertake measures to improve the plant reliability, efficiency, and performance of the plant proactively, always in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain the site CMMS and record all historical works undertaken.
  • Supervise 3rd party subcontracts on all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Complete health and safety paperwork following company guidelines.
  • Provide technical support to the fuel handling and operations team for the plant when required.



Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

A HNC in Mechanical Engineering

At least 3 years' experience on a power station or other heavy industrial site in a similar role.

Ideally an IOSH or NEBOSH.

A broad understanding of power station operations, specifically Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT).




Personal skills

The Mechanical Engineer role would suit someone who has:

  • Able to work well in a team or individually.
  • Has a fault-finding and problem-solving mindset.
  • Has planning and organisational skills, to prioritise jobs and manage resources.
