Are you an experienced school finance assistant ready to make an impact in a vibrant educational setting? We are seeking a Finance Assistant for a secondary school in North London on an ad hoc basis. In this role, you will be assisting with the smooth financial operation of the school, ensuring resources are effectively managed to benefit the students and staff.

The Role
As a Finance Assistant, you will help to support the school's financial operations. This includes daily financial management, compliance with regulations, and ensuring efficient resource allocation.
This is an ad hoc role and the school will book you to cover for staff absence/busy period of the school financial year, so would suit someone experienced in school finance and looking for occasional work of this type.
Experience in a secondary school finance role is essential, including experience of Arbor and RM Finance
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily financial tasks, including payments, cash flow monitoring, and system updates.
- Provide clear financial advice and maintain robust controls across departments.
- Assist in developing and revising financial policies to support best practices.
- Help identify opportunities to increase income and reduce expenditure.
- Oversee payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Support budget preparation, management accounts, and financial reporting.
- Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with financial returns.
- Ensure adherence to data protection regulations and manage subject access requests.
Person Specification
- Essential: Experience in a finance role within a secondary school setting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-finance staff.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of education finance systems and reporting requirements.
- Leadership and team management abilities to support finance team members effectively.
