Software Test EngineerLocation: North London AreaSalary: Up to £45,000 per yearHours: Monday to Friday, no weekends – 3 days from site and 2 days from homeExcellent opportunity to join an extremely exciting organisationOpportunity OverviewOur client is a world leader in the development, manufacture and supply of maritime navigation and surveillance radar systems. Headquartered in London, they employ over 170 people and are renowned for their advanced radar sensor technology and market-leading radar systems.We are now seeking a skilled Software Test Engineer to join their UK Radar & Naval Solutions team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development and testing of software that supports the company's cutting-edge defence products and services.Key Responsibilities
  • Build and test software to ensure the successful deployment of the company’s products and services
  • Produce and maintain detailed software build and test specifications
  • Act as a technical liaison with both internal teams and external customers, ensuring seamless communication on software-related matters
  • Contribute to improving the testability of software
  • Take on additional project tasks as assigned by management
  • Undertake any other tasks associated with the role as needed.
Key Requirements
  • Technical background with a solid understanding of software engineering
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in MS Office
  • Good understanding of the Software Engineering Lifecycle, particularly software testing and integration
  • Experience with scripting/programming languages to automate builds and testing processes
  • At least 1 year of practical experience in testing software for PCs running Windows
  • Proven experience in writing test plans, specifications and reports
  • Experience in building software and software installers is desirable
  • Previous experience in a technical/engineering role is preferred
  • A relevant Engineering Degree with a focus on Software or equivalent qualification (candidates with lower qualifications may be considered if supported by relevant experience)
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for ship visits and related activities, both in the UK and abroad
