The Role:
  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN Unit).

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work within a specialist unit attached to a mainstream school, supporting pupils with a range of complex needs to help them achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and small group support to children with SEN.
  • Use structured interventions and sensory strategies to support learning.
  • Assist with speech, language, and communication development.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the SENCO to implement tailored learning plans.
  • Help maintain a calm, safe, and structured learning environment.
What We're Looking For:
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, preferably in an SEN unit.
  • Understanding of ASD, ADHD, and SEMH strategies.
  • A calm, patient, and positive approach to supporting children.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Experience with PECS, Makaton, or sensory learning approaches is beneficial but not essential.
